Standardized Slow-Flow Urea Protocol for AV Fistulas & Grafts

Clinical Blood Draw Protocol (Slow-Flow Method)

  1. Wait until approx 30 minutes into the dialysis treatment.
  2. Turn off Ultrafiltration (UF rate = 0).
  3. Draw the Arterial (A) and Venous (V) line samples from their respective ports.
  4. Decrease blood pump speed (BFR) to 120 mL/min for 10 seconds, then immediately turn blood pump OFF.
  5. Clamp the arterial line just above the needle.
  6. Draw the Systemic (S) sample from the arterial port.
  7. Unclamp the line, and resume normal BFR and UF rate.
